Materials
Lumifab uses a CO2 laser system capable of engraving and cutting a wide variety of materials :
Acrylic / Plexiglas
We can cut acrylic up to 3/4'' thick. The laser creates flame-polished like edges that don't need additional finish. Acrylic can also be engraved.
Plastics
Polyethylene, PETG, Polystyrene, Urethane, ABS, Mylar, and many others. Please note that PVC (including Sintra) and Polycarbonate can not be laser-cut.
Foam
Ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) foam, Polyurethane foam, and most packaging foams can be laser-cut.
Fabric and textiles
The laser welds fibers in synthetic textiles along the cut. All natural fibers can also be cut, as well as leather, industrial cloth and filter material. Leather can be nicely engraved.
Wood
We laser-cut wood, MDF and plywoods up to 1/4'' thick. Some soft woods such as pine can be cut up to 3/4'' thick. The laser darkens wood along the cut. Laser engraving is especially good on wood, natural or finished.
Papers and cardboard
These cut extremely well. Cutting is precise, fine-detailed and fast.
Metal
Please note that the CO2 laser is not compatible with metals. Therefore we can not laser-cut or engrave these. An exception is anodized aluminium, which can be engraved as the laser removes the anodized layer. Permanent marking using similar to padprint is available on steel, stainless steel and aluminium parts.
